                                       Born in 1967 in Kaifeng, Henan Province, Han Lei graduated from the Central Academy of Arts
                                       and Crafts in 1989 and currently lives and works in Beijing. Among Chinese photographers,
             79                        Han Lei is one of the very few who persistently uses plain and clumsy photographic techniques
                                       to present his thoughts about an individual. His art is not based on sensual entertainment
                                       but rather on a juxtaposition of history and reality, forming a dialogue between the personal

             何多苓(b.1948)               1948年生于成都,中国当代抒情现实主义油画画家的代表。1973年毕业于成都师范学院美术班,1977年入

                                       院从事油画创作,现居成都。1985年应美国马萨诸塞州艺术学院邀请赴美讲学。上世纪80年代初,他即以
             129                       油画《春风已经苏醒》、《青春》、连环画《雪雁》等作品引起轰动,成为塑造一个民族和集体形象的代
                                       言画家。1992年,其作品《今夕何夕》颠覆其一贯恪守的焦点透视法则,首次使用双重空间的处理手法,
                                       作品风格更为趋近中国古典绘画风格。何多苓的艺术具诗意的特质,重绘画性,唯美、优雅、感伤,他追
                                       求的是无拘无束的自由度。他的艺术造型功底坚实而全面,落笔之处,人物、景象充满生命活力。他在形
                                       式语言上所推崇的单纯感与中国传统水墨画具有异曲同工之妙,在洗练中见细致,于单纯中现复杂,表现
                                       出一种超然的精神境界和深层次的艺术追求。作为伤痕美术的代表人物,上世纪80年代初即以《春风已经

                                       Born in Chengdu in May 1948, a representative of Chinese contemporary lyrical realism oil
             131                       painting painter. graduated from the art class of Chengdu Teachers' College in 1973, entered
                                       the oil painting program of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1977, and entered Sichuan Fine
                                       Arts Institute in 1979. After graduating in 1982, he engaged in oil painting at the Chengdu
                                       Painting Institute in Sichuan Province and now lives in Chengdu. 1985, he was invited by the
                                       Massachusetts College of Art to lecture in the United States. In the early 1980s, he caused

                                       a sensation with his oil paintings Spring Has Awakened and Youth and the comic strip Snow
                                       Geese, and became a spokesman painter shaping the image of a nation and a collective. In
                                       1992, his work Now and Then overturned his usual rule of focal perspective and used the
                                       double space treatment for the first time, and the style of his works became closer to the
                                       classical Chinese painting style. He Duo-ling's art is poetic, painterly, beautiful, elegant and

                                       sentimental, and he pursues unrestrained freedom. His artistic stylistic skills are solid and
                                       comprehensive, and his brushstrokes are full of vitality in the figures and scenes. The simplicity
                                       of his formal language is similar to that of traditional Chinese ink painting, which is meticulous
                                       in its refinement and complex in its simplicity, showing a transcendent spiritual realm and
