                                       Born in 1942 in Lansi, Heilongjiang Province, Li Shan graduated from Heilongjiang University in
                                       1963 and Shanghai Theatre Academy in 1968. In the late 1970s, he began his new artistic creation
                                       and participated in the Chinese avant-garde movement in the 1980s, playing an important role in
                                       the '85 Art Movement. In 1993, he represented China for the first time at the 45th Venice Biennale,
                                       becoming an important representative figure among avant-garde painters.

             林寿宇(1933-2011)            1933年出生于台湾的贵族世家,先后于香港和伦敦求学,往后的三十余载默默工作生活在英国。他在伦敦

                                       培根一同获颁威廉佛瑞纪念收藏奖。林寿宇从1950至1970年代在英国所从事的极限绘画创作,作品传达出
                                       近似中国古典文人画中空、无的极简美学意境,其艺术成就不仅享誉国际艺坛,也对台湾1980年代创作几
                                       何抽象形式的艺术家有深刻的影响,他的作品风格在国内可说极为少见,表现的技巧与内涵亦别具一格,
                                       予人强烈的感觉与印象。

                                       Born in 1933 to an aristocratic family in Taiwan, Lin Shouyu studied in Hong Kong and London before
                                       spending the next thirty years working and living quietly in England. He studied architecture at the
                                       London College of Technology (now the University of Westminster and concentrated on painting at
                                       night, and immediately after graduating in 1958 he devoted himself to his work. In 1964, he was invited
                                       to participate in the 3rd Documenta in Kassel, Germany, becoming the first Chinese artist to do so. In
                                       1967, he was selected for the Carnegie International Art Exhibition in Pittsburgh, together with Francis
                                       Bacon. In 1967, Lin was selected for the Carnegie International Art Exhibition in Pittsburgh, where he
                                       was awarded the William Fury Memorial Collection Award together with Francis Bacon. Lin Shouyu's
                                       extreme paintings in the UK from the 1950s to the 1970s conveyed a minimalist aesthetic similar to
                                       the emptiness and nothingness of classical Chinese literati painting. His artistic achievements are not
                                       only internationally renowned but have also had a profound influence on Taiwanese artists who created
                                       geometric abstract forms in the 1980s. His works are rarely seen in China, and his techniques and
                                       connotations are distinctive, giving a strong impression of his work.
