Born in Nanchong, Sichuan. Started learning calligraphy at 12.Admitted to Shanghai School
of Art in 1917. Went to Japan in 1919, exhibited his calligraphic works in Tokyo and gained
recommendations from local magazines. Settled in Paris in 1920 where he paid for his studies
by working part-time. Led a lonely and miserable life until passing away at 67. Set up the
Heavenly Dogs Society with fellow overseas students such as Xu Beihong and Zhang Daofan
in 1921. He had close ties with artists studying in Paris. His unrestrained artistic style was
influenced by Expressionism and Fauvism. Began to take part in independent salons and Salon
des Tuileries in 1925. Exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1948 and stayed
in the city for two years. Returned to Paris in 1950.Passed away in 1966. 40 or so late-year
paintings personally selected by the artist are housed in the National Museum of History, Taipei,
which presented four retrospectives of Sanyu in 1978, 1984, 1990 and 1995. Musée Guimet in
France also staged a large-scale retrospective in June 2004, evidencing the importance of San
Yu as an overseas Chinese artist in the history of 20th-century art.

沈嘉蔚（b.1948） 生于上海，肖像画家和历史画家。亦名沈加蔚、嘉蔚。文革中自学绘画。1970年到北大荒当农工并参加兵
SHEN JIAWEI 团美术班业余创作。油画《为我们伟大祖国站岗》（1974）具有全国影响，成为文革标志性美术作品。
1998年和2008年应邀在纽约和毕尔巴鄂的古根海姆博物馆与纽约的亚洲协会博物馆。1982至1984年在北京

中央美术学院进修结业。五次获全国美展奖。1989年移居澳大利亚悉尼。1998年获玛丽麦格洛普奖。十一
次入围阿基鲍尔奖。2006年获舍尔曼奖。作品由中国国家博物馆、中国美术馆、澳大利亚国家肖像馆、澳
大利亚国会大厦等公立机构与私人收藏。编辑出版大型图文合集《刘宇廉》（2005）和三卷本历史照片图
册《莫理循眼里的近代中国》（2006）。

Born in Shanghai, Shen Jiawei is a portrait and historical-themed artist. He learned to paint
during the Cultural Revolution. In 1970, he worked as a farmer in Beidahuang and participated
in the art class of the army. The oil painting Guard For Our Great Motherland (1974) has a
national influence and became a landmark artwork of the cultural revolution. In 1998 and 2008,
he was invited to the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Bilbao and the Asian Association
Museum in New York. He graduated from Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts from 1982 to
1984. He won the National Art Exhibition Award five times. He moved to Sydney, Australia in
1989. In 1998, he won the Mary McGraw Prize and was shortlisted for the Archibauer Prize 11
times. He won the Sherman Prize in 2006. His works are collected by the National Museum
of China, the Chinese Art Museum, the Australian National Portrait Gallery, the Australian
Parliament Building and other public institutions and private collections. He edited and
published Liu Yulian (2005) and three volumes of the historical photo album Modern China in
the Eyes of Morrison (2006).

申树斌（b.1978） 1978年生于山西。2007年毕业于天津美术学院油画系，获硕士学位，2007年至今任教于北京青年政治学院
SHEN SHUBIN 信息传媒艺术学院。申树斌以超验的方式关注社会现实，极具想象力的作品充满深刻的人性关怀。曾在北
京民生现代美术馆(2017，北京）、今日美术馆（2014，北京）、岭南美术馆（2019，广东）、山西美术馆

（2014，山西）、德胜美术馆（2019，广东）、新加坡客艺廊（2014，新加坡）、德国拉普画廊(2014，德
国）、北极熊画 廊（2022、北京）等国内外多家美术馆及艺术机构举办个展，曾受邀参加德国、法国、意
大利、澳大利亚、美国、 新加坡、日本、瑞士、韩国等多个国家举办的学术展览。作品被北京民生现代美
术馆、侨福芳草地美术馆、南京百家湖美术馆、树美术馆、德胜美术馆、岭南美术馆、晋商博物馆等国内
外多家美术馆、艺术机构及私人藏家收藏。

Born in Shanxi Province, China, in 1978 and later graduated from Shanxi University's College
of Fine Art. Shen Shubin received his master's degree from the oil painting department of
the Tianjing Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. He is currently teaching at the Art and Design
