of modern Taiwanese literati painted by Qiu Yacai are deeply influenced by the paintings of the
Tang Dynasty, such as the characters' hooked noses, almond eyes, oval faces, tall and slender
figures, androgynous, and the themes tend to be lonely, melancholy, restrained and quiet.

Qiu Zhijie was born in 1969 in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, and graduated from the
Printmaking Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in 1992. He currently teaches
at the Department of Integrated Art of China Academy of Art and the Center for the Study
of Exhibition Culture of China Academy of Art. He lives in Beijing and Hangzhou. Group

任静（b.1975） 1975年生于安徽宣城，毕业于中国美术学院油画系第4工作室，现为职业画家，工作生活于北京、杭州。他

Born in 1975 in Xuancheng, Anhui Province, graduated from the 4th Studio of the Oil Painting
Department of China Academy of Art, and is now a professional painter living and working in
Beijing and Hangzhou. His oil paintings are highly expressive, with rich colours and skillful
techniques. Through his works, he conveys profound reflections on contemporary society and
the human condition, with soft tones that reveal inner tension, and scenes full of unease and
uncertainty. His works consistently focus on the relationship between individuals and the social
