近似中国古典文人画中 空、无的极简美学意境,其艺术成就不仅享誉国际艺坛,也对台湾1980年代创作几

Born in 1933 to an aristocratic family in Taiwan, Lin Shouyu studied in Hong Kong and London
before spending the next thirty years working and living quietly in England. He studied
architecture at the London College of Technology (now the University of Westminster and
concentrated on painting at night, and immediately after graduating in 1958 he devoted
himself to his work. In 1964, he was invited to participate in the 3rd Documenta in Kassel,
Germany, becoming the first Chinese artist to do so. In 1967, he was selected for the Carnegie
International Art Exhibition in Pittsburgh, together with Francis Bacon. In 1967, Lin was
selected for the Carnegie International Art Exhibition in Pittsburgh, where he was awarded the
William Fury Memorial Collection Award together with Francis Bacon. Lin Shouyu's extreme
paintings in the UK from the 1950s to the 1970s conveyed a minimalist aesthetic similar to the
emptiness and nothingness of classical Chinese literati painting. His artistic achievements are
not only internationally renowned but have also had a profound influence on Taiwanese artists
who created geometric abstract forms in the 1980s. His works are rarely seen in China, and his
techniques and connotations are distinctive, giving a strong impression of his work.
