Stockman plumbs her familiar landscapes (Los Angeles, the Mojave Desert, a remote island
in Maine) for her distinctive palette of glowing, tertiary colors– crackling orange, red earth,
Holbein brown, and Fra Angelico blue. In a review of Stockman’s most recent exhibition, The
New Yorker art critic Johanna Fateman describes the artist’s biomorphic compositions as “both
diagrammatic and vaporous, a combination that calls to mind the spiritualist abstractions
of the American modernist Agnes Pelton. Although they’re more lyrical, Stockman’s nested
shapes also have the meticulous magic of Josef Albers’s squares.”Stockman’s work is in the
permanent collections of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.,
the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, and the Orange County Museum of Art, where she
was included in the California Biennial 2022: Pacific Gold.

Born in Beijing in 1961, Liang Ying studied in the Chinese Painting Department of Guangzhou
Academy of Fine Arts from 1981 to 1982. From 1983 to 1993, Liang Ying studied in the
Department of Free Art of the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg, Germany, focusing on
printmaking. Liang Ying has received art scholarships from the Rotary Club of Hamburg and

林达川（1912-1985） 生于广东新会，1930年考入杭州国立美术专科学校，1935年考入日本东京美术学校（现日本东京艺术大
LIN DACHUAN 学），1948年加入日本著名美术团体“一水会”，同年，加入东京新构造社。1951年加入日本美术家联
盟，是当时唯一的中国籍画家。1952年至1953年于木下孝则创办的神奈川鹤见美术研究所执教。1953年，

回国执教于中央美术学院华东分院（现中国美术学院）。80年代仍保持旺盛的创作精力，多次在报刊发表
作品。1994年香港举办了“林达川、胡善馀油画展”，以纪念这两位第二代留学海外的著名油画家。其作
品由中国美术馆、地方博物馆及国外艺术研究机构所收藏。

Lin Dachuan was born in Xinhui, Guangdong Province. In 1935 he studied in the Tokyo Fine
Arts School and joined the Society for Japanese Art, the only Chinese artist of his time to do
so. In 1953 on his return to China he taught at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts. He
kept working throughout the 80s, and his works were collected by the National Art Museum of
China, local museums and art institutions abroad.

祖籍安徽省凤阳，出生于江苏省常州市。1912年与乌始光、张聿光在上海创立中国第一所现代美术学校
“上海图画美术院”（后改名为上海美术专科学校）。在中国首先使用裸体模特教学，引起争议。1918年
在北京大学任教，举办个人画展，并创办《美术》杂志。1926年，上海美专因裸体模特问题被封闭，本人
被以学阀罪名通缉。1927年旅居日本，1929年后又赴法国、瑞士、东南亚等地作画和展览。1931年在法国
巴黎举行个人绘画展。1943年回国复任上海美专校长。1952年任华东艺术专科学校校长、南京艺术学院院
