Conceptual Realistic Oil Painting Exhibition (Shanghai). In the same year, his works were
exhibited in the annual exhibition of Chinese New Classical Paintings (China Art Museum,
Beijing). From the perspective of his artistic career and life history, Jiang Huan should be
classified as an artist born in the 1960s. The historical memory, passion and values of China's
1960s are clearly imprinted on him. Perhaps Jiang Huan's pursuit of a "modern sense"
of classical realistic painting can be interpreted in terms of both conceptual and pictorial
connotations. In the spiritual dimension of painting, Jiang Huan pursues the conceptual
modernity of the picture. Jiang Huan's early series of Peking Opera figures reveal his interest
and cultivation in classical art. The lotus leaves and orchids in "On the Waterfront" and the
flute, ruyi and embroidery pieces in "Jade Breaks the Night" are the most distinctive oriental
attributes of the Western vision. Since 2010, Jiang Huan has integrated the image codes of
traditional Chinese painting into the language of realistic oil painting, using the visual form of
Western oil painting to set off and highlight his respect and tenderness for classical painting.
warmth. The conceptual modernity of Jiang Huan's works undoubtedly represents a worthy
direction for the development of contemporary Chinese realistic painting.
In terms of the image modernity of oil painting, Jiang Huan is also engaged in a potential
dialogue between classical realistic painting and contemporary art. 2012's work "Draping
Green" and "Remaining Fragrance", and 2013's work "Commitment" and "Sound of Love",
both take urban popular image aesthetic culture as their basic subject matter, and the flat
image pattern, close visual space and smooth and flat picture effect show that Jiang Huan
has succeeded in drawing a connection with the strong classical meaning of realistic painting.
Jiang Huan has successfully distanced himself from the strong classical connotations of
realistic oil painting and has acquired a contemporary art style with his own unique signature.
In these images, Jiang Huan continually pushes the lens of observation forward, allowing the
partial enlargement of portraits and faces to serve as his own carefully drawn objects. The
incomplete compositions push the center of the eye to the cheeks, corners of the mouth, the
tips of the hair and the ears of urban youthful men and women, and those gray, low-toned
light and dark relationships reinforce the intimate life space and emotional relationships in
the interiors. Youthful solace and urban sentimentality have become a clear emotional and
