isn’t easy to contextualize Ji Dachun’s art. This refusal forms part of his aesthetic view. Most
art is based on some widely accepted connotation, while artists refuse to present images that
easily resonate. Perhaps, to put aside the explanation of his works is the key to understand his
creation. Ji Dachun keeps his works out of the meaning given by the outside world, because
this is the only way that works for him.
His works are unpretentious and unforgettable. Articulating one's understanding of the present
is also an achievement. On the one hand, we must acknowledge the intricacies that come
with cross-culturalism, while at the same time minimizing the impact of one culture on the
other. This two-pronged approach is not a weakness, but a strength-exactly what we feel from

季鑫（b.1988） 1988年出生于江苏省南通市。2010年本科毕业于中国美术学院油画系。2013年研究生毕业于中国美术学院
Ji Xin 油画系。2012年赴巴黎艺术城考察交流。
现工作生活于杭州和上海季鑫作品呈现的怀旧姿态，是对理想化过去的悼念。在这一层面，季鑫的作品与

齐美尔的指向不谋而合。沿着季鑫的路径我们踏入的，是一个在现实中不断滋长的白日梦，这种体验就如
同阅读了一本小说，文字中提供的元素经由阅读人的转化，变成了一个真切的存在，一个暂时的庇护所，
一面镜子或者一段模拟他者存在之后自我印证的体验。大多数人经由狭小通道所经历的短暂时刻，对于季
鑫而言，是一个值得开拓的广阔天地。绘画成为了季鑫穿过现代迷雾，在寻找实存路上创造出的实存。在
这个过程中，艺术家创造出的那个极其个人化的世界，在我们面前铺陈开来。

1988 Born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. 2010 Graduated from the Department of Oil Painting
of China Academy of Art, B.A Degree. 2013 Graduated from the Department of Oil Painting
of China Academy of Art with Master’s Degree. 2012 Included in an Exchange Project to the
International Art City in Paris. Currently lives and works in Hangzhou and Shanghai Along the
passage of Ji Xin’s practice, weenter a trance that keeps blossoming in reality. This experience
is like reading a novel, where the elements provided in the text are transformed by the reader
into concrete existence, a provisional sanctuary, a mirror, or an experience of self-verification
aftersimulating the existence of the other. The brief moment that most people endure through
narrow passages is, for Ji Xin, a vast landscape worth exploring. Almost out of his desire for
certainty, Ji Xin painted the rooms and the symbolism of the rooms just right; everything is
within reach. Painting becomes a reality created by him in seek of the truth through the haze of
modernity. In this process, the distinctively personal, increasingly pellucid world introduced by
the artist elaborates in front of us.
