Xue Song's distinctive collages represent the many different aspects of Chinese culture;
he incorporates traditional Chinese paintings, ancient calligraphy, folk art, religious icons,
legendary figures and historical photographs, effectively erasing any categorical imperatives.
His methodology is one of appropriation, manipulation and subversion in order to create a
subjective universe that manifests his personal memories and loses.

Yan Bing was born in 1980 in Tianshui, Gansu Province, China and graduated from Central
Academy of Fine Arts in 2007, 3rd Studio of the Oil Painting Department. He lives and works in
Beijing. Yan Bing directly uses ordinary or even primitive everyday objects as materials in his
creation of different mediums, and probes their spiritual dimension through painting. Hidden
behind the prosaic items of daily life he despicts is his own perception of life. The emotions
revealed in Yan Bing's works are complex, while the simplicity is permeated with his sentiment
and speculation, pain and joy. These works exuding an ancient quality reflects the artist’s
profound thinking about the relationship between his personal experience and the current

颜开（b.1980） 1980年出生于中国湖南，先后毕业于四川美术学院、中央美术学院，日本神户艺术工科大学访问学者。现
YAN KAI 执教于北京理工大学设计与艺术学院。所获奖项：2005年2008-2012共同梦想”招贴设计大赛获最高奖——
“沟通”大奖，作品于中华世纪坛展出；2005年首届设计之星全国大学生优秀平面设计作品展览，并获铜

奖。2006年作品《共同梦想》被英国伦敦VictoriaandAlbert博物馆收藏。

Born in Hunan, China in 1980 Yan Kai graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and
China Central Academy of Fine Arts, and was a visiting scholar at Kobe University of Art and
Technology in Japan. Currently teaching at the School of Design and Art, Beijing Institute of
Technology. Awards: In 2005, the 2008-2012 Common Dream poster design competition won
the highest award - the "Communication" award, and his works were exhibited at the China
Millennium Monument; in 2005, he was awarded the Bronze Award in the First Design Star
National University Student Excellent Graphic Design Works Exhibition Award. In 2006, his work
"Common Dream" was collected by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, UK."
