Born in Beijing. He entered hte Pottery and Porcelain Department of Central Academy of Fine
Arts in 1983 and the Oil Painting Department in 1985. He graduated in 1989 and has joined the
faculty until now. His works were sent to many important national and international exhibitions.

韦启美（1923-2009） 安徽安庆人。少年时代师从孙多慈学习美术。1942年入重庆中央大学艺术系，受业于徐悲鸿、黄显之、吕
WEI QIMEI 斯百等人。1947年，中央大学艺术系毕业。应徐悲鸿之邀任教于北平艺专，1950年任教于中央美术学院绘
画系。曾任中央美院油画系教研室主任，油画系研究生班主任、教授，中国美术家协会会员。1949年油画

Wei Qimei was born in Anqing, Anhui Province. At an early age he was taught by artist Sun
Duoci. In 1942 he was admitted to the Department of Art at Chongqing Central University
where he studied under Xu Beihong, Huang Xianzhi and Lv Sibai. After graduating university,
he was invited by Xu Beihong to teach in the National Beiping Art School. Later he worked at
the Central Academy of Fine Arts and served as the director of Research and Study Studio of
the Department of Oil Painting and director of the Graduate Course of the Department of Oil
Painting. His works have been exhibited in the First National Art Exhibition in 1949, the First
National Youth Art Exhibition in 1957, the 5th and 7th National Art Exhibtion and awarded
medals. Wei’s works are part of the collections of major museums such as the Military
Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution. "
