݉ٙఙ౻݊வ၇ᅄʔᆽַ֛ٙФd َӻΐ{{ʃَу݊༈ӻΐሖ͛ 10 ϋ from Germany in 1994, a friend gave him
ฮͪəତ˾ɛٙ֘ዹdձɛၾɛʘග ʘყٙɓ߉ॎʘЪfЪۜӱਪ˰у࢝̈ a black German shepherd dog, which he
ٙΚᎈfՉྼdၠَίݔ၇ܓɪ͍ ̺ኁ෦ဧʦ˚ʕ఼dܝމᆄݲࠠࠅ named “Heigen” (German for “friend”) to
ᅄഹҢІʉ ,d̴ٙҖ˸ʿהஈٙ ᔛޜᔛεϋdʦϣᙑ̈dᗭঐ̙൮f commemorate his days studying art in
ఙ౻ྼყɪே݊Ң˖ʷࣸʿତྼ͛ ͊Ը̙ಂٙˋࡩʃ˭ Kassel. Since then, Zhou Chunya’s life and
πྤ༾ٙҳ࢛f creations have been inseparably linked
ίϤЪʕdၠَӼԈή˸ˋࡩ˭މ˴ with dogs. Soon, Heigen became Zhou’s
{{մ݆ٽ ԉdϞй˸ֻʕ੬̈ତٙᅃىϺ favourite subject. A turning point in his
˭ᛩۇeλ৸ٙҖdϾ˸ˋࡩཷeॱ paintings came in 1997 when he depicted
1994 ϋʘყdմ݆ٽІᅃڏΫʕd Heigen completely in green for the first
ʾə˼ɓ৳ᅃලىϺ˭d˼ਗ਼Չ ԄٙतሯͪɛfӬ̬ٮഹήdᒔ͊ҁΌ time. From then on, dogs represent

ΌᖭϓၠЍfᖵ൙ࣱኮࢬਗ਼Ϥᓥ ࠽ءจٙ݊dኯذໍจݴϾɨٙ tables are all based on green. In such
Ϊ˼ԟݬࣛගֱ၅ٙฌઋ͛ݺfϾ˼അ ਂجdʔᗭ̈մ݆ٽί௴ЪɪաՑɓ֛ a context, “Green Dogs” manifests a

stopped painting and went on a trip

ʘήf ࣛdίഅᙃഐɪɦіˏə˖ɛڀٙ his series of “Green Dogs,” but by this time,
ၠَӻΐၚʘЪϣତԒ Җ࿒तᅄd݊ᎉ෧ၾ˖ɛڀٙஷߒf his depictions were no longer of his old
Ңɞɽٙڀܘ࢙ᑌซՑᎉ෧ٙඎ friend, Heigen, any dog he encountered in
