周廷旭 (1903-1972) 生于厦门。1921年留学美国,就读于波士顿美术馆学校。1923年往法国巴黎美院进修,之后又进英国皇家
ZHOU TINGXU 美术学院,并成为首位赢得院内所有奖学金的学生。其后被推选为英国皇家艺术协会会员。1925至1930年
游学于西班牙及意大利,之后回英国并成为首位外籍艺术家获颁皇家美院金章。在大英博物馆任职一年后

回中国并逗留了两年,至1938年返美国。其作品广于伦敦及纽约两地展出,并成为纽约大都会博物馆,卡
内基学院,匹兹堡美术馆及纽约现代美术馆等所购藏。1971年美国新英伦博物馆为其举行一项回顾展览。
周廷旭的绘画天才在欧洲及美国均备受推崇,并作为少数几位被列入于1929年出版的当代英国艺术家辞典
中的华籍艺术家之一。
Born in Xiamen, on April 27, 1903. Chiu was exposed to western art and culture at an early
age and left for the United States in 1920. The following year he joined the School of Art at the
Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 1923, he studied at the Ecole de Beaux Arts in France and
later moved to England and enrolled at the Royal Academy of Arts. He was the only student
to win all the prizes and scholarships in every competition he entered. He was also the first
foreigner to be elected as an associate member in the Royal Society of British Artists. Since
1925, he subsequently won the Royal Academy scholarship, the Landseer Scholarship, the
Cresvick Prize and several other awards. In 1929 he became the only foreign artist ever to
be awarded the Royal Academy Turner Prize. After traveling around in Europe and China he
eventually settled in the United States in 1938.
朱德群 (1920-2014) 生于江苏。1941年毕业于杭州艺专,为林风眠学生。1947至1949年任教于南京中央大学,1949年定居台
CHU TEH-CHUN 北,并任教于台北师大艺术系。1955年赴法国巴黎定居。1957年参加巴黎春季沙龙以“景昭画像”获银牌
奖。1958年在巴黎首次举办个展。1963年法国艺评家乔治·布大宜(GeorgeBoudaille)发表“朱德群的绘

画专题研究”。1979年袖珍博物馆出版社发行《朱德群专论》一书,于伯阮执笔。1987年历史博物馆主办
朱德群回顾展;同年在以色列首都市政厅展出“现代法国画派展”。1993年《朱德群专集》法文及英文版
问世,由艺评家皮耶·卡班(PierreCabanne)执笔。1997年法国外交部艺术活动司AFAA举办朱德群近作
展(自1985年-1996年作品),并在北京、香港、台湾巡回展出;12月当选法兰西学院艺术院士。1998
年在台北市立美术馆举办个展;1999年2月3日参加法兰西学院艺术院士就职典礼;2000年在法国守修文化
中心、上海博物馆、广东美术馆举办油画个展;在巴黎IDL石版画工作室创作六幅石版画,并由霍克艺术
HokeArt全球发行。2006年5月12日获颁欧洲杰出人才奖。2014年3月26日去世。
Born in Jiangsu Province, Chu Teh-chun graduated from Hangzhou Art College in 1941 and
was a student of Lin Fengmian; he taught at Nanjing Central University from 1947 to 1949, then
settled in Taipei in 1949 and taught at the art department of Taipei Normal University; he went
to Paris, France, in 1955 and settled there; in 1957 he won a silver medal for his "Portrait of
Jingzhao" at the Paris Spring Salon. In 1958, he held his first solo exhibition in Paris. 1963, the
French art critic George Boudaille published "A Thematic Study of Chu Teh-chun's Paintings".
1979, the Pocket Museum Press published a book entitled Chu Teh-chun's Monographs,
written by Yu Bo-ruan. 1987, the National Museum of History organized a retrospective
exhibition of Chu Teh-chun. In 1993, Chu Teh-chun's monographs were published in French and
English, authored by the art critic Pierre Cabanne. Chu Teh-chun's recent works (from 1985
to 1996) were exhibited in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and in December, he was elected
as a member of the Academy of France. In 2000, he held solo exhibitions of oil paintings at the
Shoushou Cultural Center, the Shanghai Museum and the Guangdong Museum of Art.
