张蒨英 (1909-2003） 张蒨英生于江苏省无锡市。1930年考入南京中央大学艺术系，师从徐悲鸿。1946年，在徐悲鸿的推荐下，
CHANG CHIEN-YING 与其丈夫费成武获得奖学金赴英国斯莱德美术学院深造，并于1947年在伦敦举行首次联展，后定居伦敦。

Zhang Qianying was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, and entered the art department of Nanjing
Central University in 1930, where she studied under Xu Beihong, and in 1946, on Xu Beihong's
recommendation, she and her husband, Fei Chengwu, were awarded a scholarship to study at
the Slade School of Fine Arts in England, where they held their first group exhibition in London
in 1947 and later settled in London. After that they held numerous exhibitions in famous
galleries in England and France. Their works have been repeatedly selected for exhibitions at

the Royal Academy of Arts. In addition to being a member of the British Watercolour Society
and the Royal Western Society of Arts, Zhang Qianying is also a member of the Society of
British Women Artists and is listed in Celebrity Records of British Art.

赵无极 (1921-2013） 华裔法国艺术家。1921年生于北平书香世家。童年在江苏南通读书，并学习绘画。1935年入杭州艺术专科
ZAO WOU-KI 学校，师从林风眠。1941年毕业留校任教。1948年赴法国留学，并定居法国。1955年第一部《赵无极版画
作品总目》出版。1957年波歇博物馆出版社出版第一部赵无极生平传记。1975-1977年巴黎国立现代美术馆

开设赵无极专厅。1984年法国政府授予荣誉勋位勋章，2003年被法兰西艺术院接纳为院士。赵无极在绘画
创作上，以西方现代绘画的形式和油画的色彩技巧，参与中国传统文化艺术的意蕴，创造了色彩变幻、笔
触有力、富有韵律感和光感的新的绘画空间，被称为“西方现代抒情抽象派的代表”，他的作品曾在世界
各地举办160余次个人画展。2013年4月9日，赵无极因病医治无效在瑞士沃州逝世，享年92岁。

Celebrated painter Zao Wou-Ki was born in Beijing in 1921. He began his artistic studies under
the direction of Lin Fengmian in 1935 at the Hangzhou National College of Art. After graduating
in 1941, he stayed on as a lecturer before moving to France in 1948. After just seven years
abroad, the first catalogue of his works, titled Zao Wou-Ki: Catalogue Raisonné of Engravings
and Lithographs, 1949-1954 was published. Shortly afterwards, Le Musée de Poche released
Zao Wou-Ki, an official biography of the artist. From 1975 to 1977, a dedicated hall showing
Zao's work was set up in the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris. In the mid-1980s, the
French Government appointed him an Officier de la Légion d'Honneur. Over the course of his
career, Zao was involved in over 160 solo exhibitions worldwide. In 2003, as part of the China
Year Project in France, a retrospective was held in the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume in
Paris. The same year, Zao was admitted as a fellow of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. Zao’s
compelling abstract paintings have earned him international fame and are much sought after
by museums and private collectors. On April 9th, 2013, at the age of 93 Zao Wou-ki passed
away at his home in Switzerland.
