             苏天赐 (1922-2006)           1922年出生于中国广东。1946年毕业于国立杭州艺专师从林风眠先生。毕业后到广东省立艺术专科学校任
             SU TIANCI                 教。1950年,受聘为中央美术学院华东分院讲师。1951年以来先后任教于青岛山东大学艺术系、无锡华东
                                       艺术专科学校。1983年,作品《沉醉》参加“江苏省人物画展”获一等奖。1987年曾赴巴黎考察并举办在

                                       巴黎国际艺术城《苏天赐油画展》。1993年应德国TTT艺术协会邀请访问德国,参加海姆巴赫夏季国际艺
                                       术节。1994年12月应邀赴新加坡访问展出。1995年赴日本爱知县艺术大学访问讲学,并举办画展。1997
                                       年10月,应美国巴尔的摩淘森大学的邀请出访讲学,并在该校艺术中心举办画展”。2002年举办“信步与
                                       回眸——苏天赐油画艺术回顾展”(南京博物院、广东美术馆)。2005年参加“大河上下——新时期中国
                                       油画回顾展”;举办“湖上春风——苏天赐艺术回顾展”(浙江省博物馆、浙江西湖美术馆)。与2006年
                                       逝世。苏天赐先生是20世纪中国杰出的油画家、著名美术教育家。其油画作品堪称现当代中国美术中西融
                                       汇的成功探索。苏先生以静物与风景探求“西方的缤纷、东方的空灵”。他创造了一种诗意弥漫、文情荡
                                       漾、境界高渺、韵味悠长的中国气象的油画。这是乐观与壮阔的文化生命意象。在他生命的最后十年中,
                                       苏先生隐居郊外,在杨柳、飞燕与烂漫山花间,他找到了八大山人、徐文长与柯罗、莫奈的对话,作品更
                                       趋简洁和意象、甚至抽象。他流露出的是谨严、慎重而又自然舒朗的形式表现,更为接近纯粹精神、纯粹
                                       形式。他获得了艺术形式与艺术灵魂的对应,从眼中诗境到心灵意象到精神与形式的同化,超乎想象、超
                                       越自我,达到了化境。回顾他的人物画,每个年代的肖像都印上时代审美的记痕,反映了生活基础与意识
                                       形态及文艺方针的关系。准确地说看到苏先生画的肖像,就能读出时代。他的《黑衣少女》犹如从敦煌壁
                                       画中走出,温润、简括的几何形构成印证了西方现代主义流入中国不久便神遇东方古代造物的智慧。那手
                                       的造型非佛、非供养人,诗性的浪漫成就了形的象征意义。我也喜欢他为诗人臧云远所作的肖像。这张画
                                       对神形的刻画达到了微妙之至。往往表现浪漫而少深沉,表现飘逸而缺厚重,刻画细微而乏主观表现,恰
                                       恰苏先生的这幅《诗的沉醉———臧云远像》将一切矛盾、一切冲突有机融入了富有意境也极具表现力的
                                       氛围中。作为一代艺术大师,苏天赐先生的艺术与他所处时代的关系,他的凌逾客观万象之外而直取心灵
                                       的艺术真性,他的化东西方、融古今于一体而成心象的艺术悟性,他的融个人情感与东方情韵、人类情怀
                                       的艺术灵性,对当今有着极高的学术研究价。

                                       Born in Guangdong, China in 1922, he graduated from the National Hangzhou Art College
                                       in 1946 and studied under Mr. Lin Fengmian. After graduation, he taught at the Guangdong
                                       Provincial Art College, and in 1950, he was appointed as a lecturer at the East China Branch
                                       of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and since 1951, he has taught at the Art Department of
                                       Shandong University in Qingdao and at the East China Art College in Wuxi. In 1993, he was
                                       invited by TTT Art Association of Germany to visit Germany and participate in the Heimbach
                                       Summer International Art Festival, and in December 1994, he was invited to Singapore for
                                       exhibition. In 2002, he held a retrospective exhibition of Su Tianzhi's oil paintings (Nanjing
                                       Museum and Guangdong Art Museum). 2005, he participated in "Up and Down the Great
                                       River - Retrospective Exhibition of Chinese Oil Painting in the New Period"; "Spring Breeze
                                       on the Lake - Retrospective Exhibition of Su Tianci's Art " (Zhejiang Museum, Zhejiang West
                                       Lake Art Museum). He passed away in 2006. Mr. Su Tianzhi was an outstanding Chinese oil
                                       painter and famous art educator in the 20th century. His oil paintings can be described as
                                       a successful exploration of the integration of East and West in modern and contemporary
                                       Chinese art. Mr. Su explored "the colorfulness of the West and the ethereality of the East"
                                       with still life and landscape. He has created a kind of oil painting with a poetic, literary mood,
                                       a high and remote realm, and a long rhythm of Chinese meteorology. This is an optimistic
                                       and magnificent cultural life imagery. In the last decade of his life, Mr. Su lived in seclusion in
                                       the suburbs, where he found a dialogue with Bada Shanren, Xu Wenchang, Corot and Monet
                                       among the willows, swallows and rosy mountain flowers, and his works became more simple
                                       and imaginative, even abstract. His works are more simple and imaginative, even abstract. He
                                       reveals a formal expression that is sober, deliberate and yet natural, closer to pure spirit and
                                       pure form. He has achieved a correspondence between artistic form and artistic soul, from
                                       the poetic realm of the eyes to the imagery of the mind to the assimilation of spirit and form,
                                       transcending the imagination, transcending the self, and reaching the realm of transformation.
